Hubby's a running fool!

Well, Dan and I ran 7 miles at the park Sunday morning. That was the longest run we've ever run together and it was great. He's definitely going to beat his 5k time at the Shamrock in March! We may do the Chinsegut 5krun in Brooksville coming up on the 16th. I hear they give out unique prizes instead of medals. I'd love cash, that works.

took a break...feels good

I've noticed something this week. Since taking almost a whole week off last week in DC, I feel like my runs this week have been really great. I haven't really gone any faster or longer, nothing different. It just seems like the runs have felt very refreshing and energetic. I guess I stored up lots of energy even though we walked miles and miles in DC!
Anyway, feeling good and working on an 8 week 5k program to get me ready for the upcoming Shamrock 5k in beautiful downtown Inverness!

Katy, come on up!!

My Dear Husband is after me!!

Dan has been running his heart out for the past few weeks and he's not going to stop until he catches me!! He's been using a Hal Higdon 5k schedule, building up his weekly mileage and increasing his long runs. He's running 5 miles for his long run and logging 15-20 miles per week! His 5k time is getting better every time he runs! Next week he's going all out and running 6 miles for his long run. It's been fun to run with him again. But if I'm not careful, he'll pass me up and we can't have that!

First in My First 10k!!

We had beautiful cool weather Saturday morning for the Mistletoe Trot 10k on Saturday in Leesburg. It was great fun and I'm so glad I tried it. Two gals and I went together to cheer each other on and we all placed in our own age groups. Congrats Kerri and Connie! Jacqueline, wish you were there!! You would've placed also!! There were over 200 people there to run the 5k or the 10k. The course was totally flat and went around a huge lake. Rain threatened just a bit and it was a little foggy but the temperature was perfect for a run.
Well, I was pleased with the outcome! JB, you put it in my head that I could pull it off in 50 minutes so I listened and made it in 50:46! That was 1st in my age group and 5th overall female out of 47, I'll take it.
I do believe I like this distance! Citrus county doesn't have any 10k races, we'll have to fix that.
Actually got a key chain medal this time. It's cute and useful!

Jingle Bell 5k

Well...not my best time, but 23:21 is about all I could handle last Saturday at the Jingle Bell 5k. Last year there was a bit of a chill in the air and long sleeves were the fashion, but this year it must have been 85. The sun was in full force and it made for a very tough run. The slight hills grew to Everest proportions and it was such sweet relief to cross the line and just plop. I wasn't thrilled with my time but it was good enough to take 1st in my age group. I was more pleased with my place overall: 5th female to come in. Two of the gals in front of me are moving targets that I fear I may never catch.
Dan and I ran this year while the boys enjoyed the parade afterward with some friends. We caught up with them during the parade and enjoyed the same ol' show that we've had since I've been here(16 years now)
This Saturday I plan to run my first 10k in Leesburg. Not too sure what's going to happen there!

Hi!

Wow, haven't had a minute!

The runs are still going pretty good. I did not run the Key Biscayne Lighthouse run as was planned, but I am looking forward to my first 10k in December in Leesburg. Still running the long runs of 6-7 miles on the weekends and all is well.

The most exciting thing lately is that my sweet, dear husband bought me some new socks! 8 bucks for a pair of socks! They sure are comfy. The new shoes are not so new any more and well broken in and doing fine. Already 205 miles on those babies! And filthy from running the trail in the rain!

Coming up is the Jingle Bell 5k in Inverness! Kate is coming up to run...yippee! All those parade goers gawking at you as you go by...not my idea of fun, but I do love the jingle Bell. It's a Christmas tradition at this point!

Ok, that's all I've got! We're taking a break from school this week and I don't know what to do with myself!!
